Coaster/ rear brake only, single speed only, flat pedals only

$200 or under race
24 speed max, v-brakes, mtb only. Time to hit craigslist for those bargains. Only upgrading allowed is to repair safety concerns. Don't be the dick who shows up on a manga with xtr to a free race with no prizes...

Donations to Community Bike Shop. After the race, donate your clunker to cbs to help those that need a bike.

Not sure how to do this one or if it would be worth doing.

Flag race

2 man teams, 5-6 flags placed around the course. One way would be to make riders stay within eyesight of each other and ride together via adventure races. Other way is first team back with the flags wins and teams can split up and break up the course. Problem i see is people cutting course or riding the wrong direction and causing safety problems on sight.

other idea is challenge race

Set up 5-6 stations that make the teams do something silly before they can continue.
Pop a balloon with your butt. Dance the macarana. Swing dance with your teammate. Blowing bubbles. Whatever. I like the sound of this better. Excellent photo ops to promote whatever. Be a good one for thor. Might have to plot on this more...

Not sure which way to go on this one.

i was thinking either 4 riders 1 bike or more realistically 4 riders 4 bikes for safety reasons. Split riders across the course and each rider completes his section. With each rider changing stations each lap this would keep the ringers at bay and everyone would get a lap in. Could also go 8 laps if we had the times. Like i said i'm just thinking out loud. Details to be ironed out later...

Classes:

coaster/rear brake only. No discs, 1 gear only.

$200 and under race, 24 speeds max. No bike worth over 200 bux. Time for the $39 mangas from dicks, garage sale scores and craigslist junk. Can be repaired to be safe but no upgrading. Show up on a walmart mongoose with xtr and get the boot.

Donations to bike co-op. Also take the junk off peoples hands that want to donate their racers to the co-op.

Yep, 2 riders racing head to head for 1/4 mile-ish preferably in drag. Eliminations, bye rounds, the whole deal. I was thinking about using the gravel road @ tranq or the open field @ swanson.

Also considering just a fun single track race in drag if wanted instead of drag racing. Either way, should be a good time...

Ok, this is an outlet for rambling. I've got some ideas i'm thinking about for races this year but i have to get them out before i lose them....
